- Psychology Education
The education for psychologists in Austria is a 5 year study comprising 3 years BA + 2 years MA.
Recognition of university education programmes as meeting EuroPsy requirements for clinical and health psychologists is undertaken by a national accreditation authority of which the judgments are accepted by the Austrian National Awarding Committee, and for work and organisational psychologists in co-operation with the National Awarding Committee (NAC).

- Supervised practice arrangements (for the EuroPsy Certificate)
The arrangements are different for psychologists in different fields.
The requirements for health psychologists to become recognised by the Federal Ministry of Health as chartered health psychologists are:
1,553 hours supervised practice + 100 units supervision (= 70 units group-supervision + 30 units single supervision) + 76 units self-experience (1 unit = 45 minutes)

The requirements for clinical psychologists to become recognised by the Federal Ministry of Health as chartered clinical psychologists are:
2,098 hours supervised practice + 120 units supervision (= 80 units group-supervision + 40 units single supervision) + 76 units self-experience (1 unit = 45 minutes)

The requirements for work & organisational psychologists are:
1600 hours supervised practice + 25 hours supervision

- Arrangements for training of supervisors
The requirements for clinical & health psychologists offering supervision are a minimum of 5 years experience as a chartered clinical & health psychologist + CPD (30 units per year), and for psychologists offering self-experience a minimum of 5 years experience as a chartered clinical & health psychologist + 120 hours self experience
These requirements are regulated by the Psychologists Act (2013): § 15 + § 24
The requirements for work & organisational psychologists offering supervision are a minimum of 3 years listed in the BÖP-register of work & organisational psychologists + CPD 16 hours per year + optional training in supervision

- Arrangements for training of supervisors
Training of supervisors is mainly arranged by the national psychologists association (the BÖP). For clinical and health psychologists there are various arrangements; these are governed by the federal law, the Psychologist Act of 2013.
Most psychologist supervisors for clinical and health psychologists meet the EuroPsy level 1 criteria; most psychologist supervisors for work and organisational psychologist meet EuroPsy level 4 criteria or higher.
- Recognition of title
“Psychologist” is a legally recognised and protected title for clinical & health psychologists. The federal law is the Psychologist Act of 2013 with the competent authority the Federal Ministry of Health, Register

- License to practice
There is no requirement for a licence or entry in a register for work & organisational psychologists. The BÖP register is voluntary and the majority of W&O psychologists in Austria are registered.
A licence and entry in a register is required by federal law for practising psychology as a clinical & health psychologist (Psychologist Act, 2013) by the competent authority, the Federal Ministry of Health, Register
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
There are requirements for CPD for Clinical Psychologists and Health Psychologist and Work & Organisational Psychologists.
Clinical & Health: CPD: 30 units per year or 150 units within 5 years

Work & Organisational Psychologist: CPD = 16 hours per year
